Salvation

What is Salvation

Salvation means being saved from the power of sin and from hell, the eternal penalty of that sin. Through the process of salvation, we are freed from everything that could prevent us from enjoying eternal life with God.

Step 1 – You can be assured of your salvation

You have now become a born again Christian, but you may have experienced doubts about what really happened to you, that is why you need to have an assurance of salvation that God has given to you in the bible.

  • God assures you that Jesus Christ has come into your life

John 14:20

At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. (NKJV)

  • God assures you that your sins have been forgiven

Colossians 2:13-14

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. (NKJV)

  • God assures you that you have eternal life (the God type of life)

1 John 5:13

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (NKJV)

Step 2 – You can know that you are loved unconditionally by God

No matter what you are going through you can know that God has completely accepted you and loves you unconditionally.

  • God loves you, has chosen you, and has adopted you into his own family.

Ephesians 1:4-5

“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will”.(NKJV)

Step 3 – You have a new life in Christ

God has given you a new life, though you are not expected to be different all at once. Just as a new baby has to grow and learn, so God is going to work in you and help you to grow.

  • You have begun a relationship that will continue the rest of your life

Colossians 2:6-7

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. (NKJV)

Step 4 – The privilege of prayer

Just as good friends can talk to each other, so God your heavenly father want you to talk to him. He will also talk back to you.

  • You can pray to God about anything and everything. He wants to hear from you.

Philippians 4:6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (NKJV)

Step 5 – You have the treasure of God’s word

When you buy a new gadget, you usually get an instruction manual. With your new life in Christ, you need God’s instruction manual which is the Bible

  • You can trust God’s word

Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,(NKJV)

You have a great friend in Jesus so get to know Him

  • Only because of Jesus do you have a personal relationship with God.

Colossians 1:19-20

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. (NKJV)

Step 6 – You have a new life style

You show your love for Jesus by doing as He says.

John 14:15

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. (NKJV)

Philippians 2:13

For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. (NKJV)

Step 7 – God will help you to follow and obey Him

  • God gives you His Holy Spirit to enable you to leave a Christian life.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.(NKJV)

Step 8 – You can resist temptation

  • You are not alone in temptation. God promises to show the way out.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (NKJV)

  • You can continue to receive forgiveness. As a child in God’s family, you will still mess up sometimes. But God’s love for you is so great that he will continue to forgive you.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

  • You have the privilege of worship. When you became a Christian, you joined a family-sometimes called “The Body of Christ”. Which means now related to Christians all over the world. You need to join a portion of that family by beginning to attend a local church, that’s why you’ve chosen Grace Gospel Ministries Int. as your Local church.

Hebrews 10:25

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (NKJV)

  • You can now let others know about your faith in Christ and what He has done for you. The news you have to share is the best anyone could hear. It is the message of salvation. Tell people about Jesus and win them to Christ. Follow them up till they come to your church to be committed just like you.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (NKJV).

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (NKJV)

  • Take time to memorise scriptures. To fight a good battle, you need powerful equipment, and the word of God is the sword of the Spirit that you need to defeat Satan remember Jesus defeated Satan three times with the word In

Matthew 4:1-11

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”‘ Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.”‘ Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.”‘ Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.”‘ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (NKJV)

  • Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;(NKJV)

Step 9 – Realize your long term goal is to be like Christ and to be raptured on the day of rapture

 Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (NKJV)

 Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (NKJV)

Step – 10 You must join a department in the church

God believes in groups and companies in the church. That is why in the Bible, there were groups like the Twelve tribes if Israel, the Twelve disciples of Jesus, the Fifty sons of the prophets In Gilgal, Bethel, Jordan and Jericho. The Bible also spoke about the Four Lepers, the Five Wise virgins and the Five Foolish virgins. These were groups mentioned in the bible. You must join a department.

Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. (NKJV)
