I have never met anybody who is as good as God! He is good.
Psalm 73:1 “Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart.
Good is defined as possessing desirable qualities, excellent, admirable, commendable: Not bad, corrupt, evil, offensive, or troublesome. God alone possesses these qualities. No god does. He is blind to the unthankful and evil. He makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. In Luke 18:18 -19, a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good?” No one is good but One, that is God. I don’t know about you? But He has been good to me and my family.
Jesus came to reveal the Father’s Heart Luke 10: 22 “Things have been delivered to Me by Mr Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father , and no one knows who the Father except he Son and the one to whom the son wills to reveal Him.”
No one knows the Father except the Son. He knows the Father. Jesus came to this world to reveal to us who the Father is and how His heart is, towards His children He went about doing good and healing them that were oppressed by the devil. He was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil. He healed the blind, made the lame walk, cleansed the lepers, he made the deaf hear, the dead were raised and the poor had the gospel preach to them. This was His response to John the Baptist’s question about Himself. This he did to show us who the father is. What He saw His father do, He did. God is good. Men may be bad because they are human. They may disappoint, slander and discourage but my God remains the same. Psalms 52:1 “….. The goodness of God endures continually.”
His goodness leads us to repentance Romans 2:4 “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, for bearance, and long suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads to repentance?”
It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance. We have been taught to believe in the opposite. Religion has made us think over the years that one must repent before he can receive the goodness of God. But the Bible says, it is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance.
Pastor Ewusie Brookman what do you mean? Alright let me explain.
In Luke 5:1-11, “Jesus demonstrated that God’s goodness lead men to repentance Jesus was standing by the sea of Galilee, which Luke calls the “Lake of Genesaret .“ Around Him a crowd had gathered , listening to Him proclaim the word of God. Two ships were pulled up on the shore. One belonged to Peter. Jesus sat and preached. Meanwhile Peter and his partners were off washing their nets. They had spent a long fruitless might fishing. They were at distance, tending to business, washing their nets. But I believe they no doubt looked on with some interest as they worked, but hey were surprisingly detached from the Master and from the crowd. Jesus finished preaching and asked Peter to lunch out into the deep, and to let down the nets for a catch. Peter and his friends obeyed the word of the Lord and the result was incredible! This beat the imagination of Peter.
The nets were absolutely full. They began to break. They signalled their partners for help, and even with two ships, the harvest was so large that both boats began to sink. Now Simon Peter after seeing this goodness towards him. This unmerited favour towards him, immediately responded , saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, o Lord!” Luke 5:8. Friends which one came first? Peter’s repentance or God’s goodness? His goodness will lead us to repentance. Pastor’s, let’s preach God’s goodness. This will bring the drug addicts, prostitutes, ex-convicts, armed robbers and all sinners to Jesus. If you are a sinner reading this book, “I want you to know that God loves you and He is willing to show you His goodness if you invite Him in.”
